Which emails we send, and why you got one

We send three kinds of email, and they behave differently. Knowing which one you have makes it obvious what to do about it.

1. The monthly app update (marketing)

A single email at the start of each month, covering what changed across our four Shopify Flow apps: new features, fixes worth knowing about, and links to the documentation.

Why you got it: you use, or have used, one of our apps. Installing an app puts your contact address on this list.

Can you turn it off? Yes, in one click. See I received an email, where can I unsubscribe?.

2. Replies to your own support requests

If you write to us, open a chat in one of the apps, or submit a bug report or feature request, you get an answer by email. The conversation threads, so replying to our reply reaches the same person.

Can you turn it off? Not really, and you would not want to: it is your own conversation. Unsubscribing from marketing does not silence these. If you stop replying, the thread simply ends.

3. Operational notices from an app you installed

Sent by the app itself, not by us as a company. Typically:

  • you are approaching or have reached your monthly plan limit
  • your triggers, webhooks or actions have started failing more than usual

Why you got it: you are the store owner, or someone added you as a notification recipient in that app.

Can you turn it off? Yes, but not here. Open the app in your Shopify admin and look for its notification settings, where you can also change who receives them. Unsubscribing from marketing has no effect on these, by design: they exist to warn you that something you rely on is broken.

Where your address came from

We do not buy lists and we do not scrape addresses. There are only two ways we have your address:

  • You installed one of our apps at some point. Shopify shares the store contact address with us as the app's developer. This still applies if you have since uninstalled it, which is why our emails say "you use, or have used, one of our apps".
  • You contacted us through one of the apps. The chat bubble, a bug report, a feature request, or any other form inside an app.

That is it. If you cannot place either of those, we would genuinely like to know: write to [email protected] and we will look up where the address came from and tell you.

Still not sure which one you have

Look at the footer. Marketing email from us always carries an unsubscribe link and our postal address. If the email you are holding has neither, it is a support reply or an operational notice from an app.

If you would rather just ask, reply to it, or write to [email protected].
